May 27, 2006 - Yes, it's been a while
since my last update, so here goes.
To begin with a bit of bad news from the last
update, Dawn Sky magazine has gone kaput. Editor decided to close and
informed me of that via email in early November 2005. So "Mosquito Patrol"
still needs a published home. This may turn out to be good news,
because since then I've expanded the story and made it much better.
Now for good news. My short story "The
Jack-O-Lantern" was published in
issue 8 of
Shadowed Realms. SR
is a great magazine of dark flash fiction and, best of all, pays
professional rates. So this was my first professional sale. Issue 8 was
published in November 2005, right around the time I got the bad news about
"Mosquito Patrol." That's just the way life is, I suppose.
Anyway, those who run Shadowed Realms are good
folks, a pleasure to work with, and pay on time. What more can you ask for?
More recently, another short story, "Rodeo
Day," appeared on the online magazine with a very cool name,
Nocturnal Ooze. It
was published on April 10, 2006. This was my first non-flash sale, so I was
very pleased, to say the least.
September 14, 2005 - My short story
"Mosquito Patrol" has been accepted at
Dawn Sky magazine. The story should appear on the site in January. This
is my second paid publication.
August 17, 2005 - My flash piece, "The
Ghost," all of 100 words, will be appearing in the charity e-anthology
Shadow Box,
available Halloween 2005. Please buy a copy!
January 2, 2005 - My first paid
publication!
"The Mirror" was bought and published by the good folks at
Bloodlust-UK.com. Read it
here.
A Deep Thinker
Probably the weirdest story I've written, and that's saying something.
Judge for yourself.
Crime in the City
My only decent poem. I'm no poet, and believe me, I know it.
On Passing Gas
I wrote this for a college creative writing class. It made something of an
impression, since, on the day the stories were returned to us, the teacher
instructed us on the meaning of flatulence.
The First
Werewolf
My first published short story!
Trick or Treat
Don't like passing out candy to cutesy little kids on Halloween? Neither
did Bricker - but he still does. So should you. My third published short
story.
What She did for Love
Bad things can happen on those old dating shows. Very bad things. |
